 Tempest was so cool, vibrant and colorful when it came out, I was instantly attracted to it.

Just check out the awesome side art in the first pic. Man, it doesn't get any better than that!! Without a doubt the best side art of any game, classic or modern. The cool thing is you can make out the shapes of the attackers in the game quite easily. It makes the game a cool collectible.

I will be replacing both the top marquee and control panel in the near future, as soon as Arcade Renovations finishes them.

According to Dave Theurer, the creator of the game, the game does not take place in outer space, but as he imagined it, the creatures are escaping from a hole in the ground. I don't know Dave, it looks an awful lot like outer space to me. Dave, by the way, created my top two favorite games of all time, with Missile Command being the other.
